It all began with Jeremy Clarkson's sudden itch for some tranquility. After years of driving fast cars in the city, he craved a glimpse of open spaces. Naturally, Richard Hammond and James May quickly bought into it. So they gathered their essentials and set off to the middle of England's rolling hills.

They found an old cottage that needed a bit of TLC.

As for the cars? Well, let's just say that they weren't in perfect condition/pristine/showroom ready when they left town.
